+ 1 on Cookeville. Good luck!

Thank you all for your input. I just returned from my weekend in Murfreesboro. A lot has changed in 45 years. The biggest change I saw was the congestion/traffic and that Nashville itself has grown into what used to be outlying towns becoming a metropolitan area.

Your input was helpful, especially given the nasty weather. My driving was verrrry limited.

An update and my thank yous for your good input

It was a good weekend visit seeing old college friends. Murfreesboro has grown and seems to have turned to a medical centric place. Nashville has subsumed many of the outlying towns. The area between Murfreesboro and Franklin looked nice.

Things have changed for me personally. My son and his family just bought a house in Farragut so they will be there for the duration. Mom and sister are still in Knoxville. My daughter in Pittsburgh PA is starting her family, so I am looking at visiting Johnson City area to find a place somewhat between my two sets of grandchildren. It comes down to family in the end normally.

FWIW for those who are choosing with no constraints, I really like Middle Tennessee and would probably look at Cookeville. It gladdened my heart when I flew into the Nashville arirport and I knew why I chose to go to college at MTSU.

Most of my friends I saw that weekend are retiring and have lived throughout the state during their careers. Most are planning to move 'closer to Nashville' since that is where their children are.

So for those considering a move to middle Tennessee it is a place worth looking. For those who were so helpful, your input was appreciated
