I've been thinking about moving to Nashville, not sure yet depends on the potential job. Would $1500 a month for a 1 bedroom of at least 600 Sqft cut it? I may be able to go a little higher than that. Ideally I'd like to be fairly close to downtown but am ok with moving further out. I'm ok with living in an older building that doesn't have all the latest furnishings as long as it isn't in a bad neighborhood.

I think you should be able to find something for $1500 a month. It's folks who want something in the $800 range who are out of luck. Probably not downtown Nashville but am sure you could find something in Franklin or Bellevue. Rents have really gone up in the last 4 - 5 years but housing is being built like crazy. Not sure about Mt. Juliet or Hendersonville but you could probably find something ujp there, too. Depends on where your job ends up being.

Really hard to find rent prices online and they seem to change daily . . . . but you should find something not right downtown but in a safe area in your price range.

Final answer? Yes!

You should be ok depending on where exactly you want to be. If you're wanting to live in the gulch or somewhere high end like that, then yea, you're going to probably have a touch time. Otherwise you should be ok. Just check some of the websites of apartments in areas you're looking into.

Many apartment complexes advertise on craigslist. I would be leery of some of the rentals on Craigslist but some are legitimate and reasonably priced. When you find a complex google the name of the apartment and reviews. You can find out many pros and cons that will help in your decision. Their website also shows pictures of the apartments, amenities and location of the apartments.

Depending on size & location $1500 may be a bit high for a small 1br. You may find some 2br/1 bath. For the $$ find out if they also supply laundry appliances. You may find other units recently upgraded.
