Looking for feedback, thoughts, honest opinions.....Seeing the boom in real estate in Middle TN and how many people seem to be moving to the area. I am looking to start a landscaping business. Starting with lawn care and expanding when applicable. Anyone on here own a landscaping business or know anyone who does.

Is the market completely saturated or could there always be room for healthy competition.

I understand the risks and costs of any startup business so I am looking beyond that.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I was using a lawn service - just treatments and seeding - for a couple of years with mixed results when my sister sent me the name of a guy starting a business in the area - he was advertising on one of those Neighborhood Chat/Forums? And since I felt like my yard wasn't big enough for the big guys, I gave him a shot. He told me he now has 150 customers - and it's barely been a year.

So that's not landscaping but it's similar. With landscaping you're in and out, is that right? It's not an ongoing thing? I think there's always room for a business that KNOWS the area. Meaning what sort of plants/grass/trees do well down here, with not much water? Find a niche rather than be a generalist. And don't dismiss smaller homes and yards . . . . Good luck!
