My in-laws are moving to Clarksville in a few days, and they've saved up their frequent flyer miles and said we could visit anytime, but I'm concerned about visiting during certain times with the humidity and my allergies and asthma. When my husband and I were in Costa Rica on our honeymoon, I had an asthma attack within the first 24 hours due to 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity, and luckily we were able to find a pharmacy, but I can't be on cortico-steroids for very long without it affecting my immune system. I can handle the humidity in the 60s like it was in the cloud forest it seems. I love my in-laws and want to plan in time throughout the year for us to visit them, and hopefully see some of the beautiful countryside, too.

I'm getting allergy tested next week, but I know that certain types of trees get me and high humidity. My great grandpa didn't fare so well with the high humidity in Cuba. Living in California, the late winter/early spring allergies between February and April and fall Santa Ana winds in October are the worst. I may be doing immunotherapy with shots depending if it actually helps my immune system prepare for the allergens there or just in general. My mom said her friend that moved out to California had her allergies reduced by 75 percent.

In Tennessee, I'm assuming that sometime in October would be a good time to visit? Before or after the first frost? Perhaps February or March too, before everything warms up and blooms? I'd like to have a few times of year where I know I could safely book a trip and enjoy my time there.

It's possible that I may not be able to be too picky in winter, haha! I've never experienced weather below the teens, and don't really enjoy weather below the 20s-30s, but I'm willing to travel during that time if it helps. I'm also concerned about the heated air drying out my sinuses. Anyone with allergies knows that 30-50% humidity levels are optimal for happy sinuses to be free of colds, viruses, molds, fungi, etc.

Tl;Dr: I need 3x/year that I can visit in-laws safely around allergies and asthma seasons. Humidity levels of 30-50 percent optimal. Any other advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

This blog shows that the most humid month (December) and least humid month (April) may not follow conventional wisdom:
