I understand from a close friend who works for the Braves that this meeting dealt with several topics, not the least was drumming up support from Reinsdorf for an expansion team for Nashville. It also enables Reinsdorf to play apparent interest from Nashville as leverage for a new stadium in Chicago. A win-win.

It also covered lessons that Reinsdorf has experienced in financing a new stadium, such as private-public obligations. I've been told there will be other meetings with owners of the Reds, Cardinals, Orioles and Brewers and maybe other teams whose fanbases touch Nashville. It's to drum up support from other owners for an expansion vote and insight to building facilties.

The MLB owners and players' reps are having their Winter Meeting in Nashville right now. I've heard the inside track for expansion is Nashville's and Portland's. Both cities have the advantage of not being too close to other MLB markets.

In a way time may have something to play here.

Prime location would be next to new Titans stadium. If they put it in parking lot or something to leave space. Doubt if they would build baseball at site of old Nissan stadium but you never know.

Also on the list is what to do with AAA Sounds stadium. Assuming the team would have to leave for somewhere else.

Can't have AAA & MLB. I think it may be able to join an independent baseball league (Sounds).
