Hi everyone!

Im a recent college grad from upstate NY and I am moving to a reservation in New Mexico this June to teach 4th grade. Im going to be under pretty strict time contraints but wanted to make sure I got to stop in Nashville (never been) after the first leg of my trip.

Im going to be driving with one other person (a guy) and plan to stop in Nashville for one night around June 5th.... soo...if you had only ONE NIGHT in Nashville....what would you do!? I love my cowboy boots, folk music, and Mexican food if that helps any....Ive heard I should check out Broadway. But Im looking for specific places to stay/eat/check out so that I dont leave Nashville feeling like I only hit up some crappy tourist streets. Im almost more excited to stop in TN than just about anything else so help me out if you can!
Danielle

Danielle- (great screenname, BTW)

If I had one night in town, I would go to the Bluebird Cafe, no question. That's where songwriters sing their own songs. It's a special experience to hear a hit song performed by the writer and maybe learn about how it came to be. You'll get to hear 4 writers in the round. Adding to the fun is the banter among them. Well, that and the sweet potato fries! Call for reservations- very important. The Bluebird Cafe

Broadway is fun, but it's very touristy. You could always go for an hour to say you did it.

Have a great time!

Hate to say this but you could not pick a worse (or better I guess) time to come to Nashville. June 5-8 is Fan Fair in downtown Nashville (google that if you want to find out what it is all about) but hotel rooms have probably been sold out for months and if not will be extremely high. It will also be very difficult to get into a lot of music venues and restaurants.

If you can come sooner, I believe the availability of LIVE music of all types (not just country) in downtown Nashville make it the “must see” for any one night visitor. I agree about Bluebird but if you only have one night you may not get the best bang for your buck. I would stay in a downtown hotel (there is one for every budget) walk out the front door and follow the music. There are a number of really good restaurants downtown as well.

Hope this helps, have fun in NashVegas!!

Default Thank you!!

akm4-- That cafe sounds incredible! I went to the website and I got really exicted about some of the performers scheduled for this month...I have to just remember about the reservations...

HouseWhisperer--oh man, well I guess we could always stay just outside of nashville...spend a few hours checking it out the next day while we are driving in through....I heard the public transportation system is something to be desired since there is a lot spread out over a large area...so that might end up working in our favor if we have to keep the jeep with us.

Thank you both so much!!
Danielle

Have a bite to eat at Merchants. I love everything that restaurant makes and the ambience is great.
