Hello!
My husband accepted a job at Vanderbilt so my family will be relocating to Nashville this summer. Other than the brief visit for the interview, we have not spent any time in Nashville and don't know the area at all.

Can you please give any suggestions on the best neighborhoods that are close(ish) to Vanderbilt, safe and family friendly? We have an elementary school aged son that we plan to send to private school (most likely a school near Green Hills but that is still up in the air until we visit and check out schools), so public school zoning isn't a concern. We'd like to be close to the University so my husband has a short commute. Being able to bike to work would be preferred.

We plan to rent for the first year. Ideally a clean, updated, small house or townhouse with a budget of 2000-2500/mo.

Thank you for your input!

The public schools in Green Hills are just as good as Williamson county. If you are going to do private I hope you have already applied as decisions for most of the private schools in the Green Hills area come out next Saturday.

You can probably find something in your price range but it may not be "new". There was a house on my street (zoned Julia Green) that was listed a while back for rent at $2300/mo. The house is under 1500 sq ft.
