My family and I will be relocating to Franklin, Tenn from Long Island, NY. Im just curious as to how other families are dealing with the cultural change. Its no secret NY living puts a toll on the body and mind but if you are a native New Yorker I wonder how the change in rhythm affects people. Were you able to get used to it? What are your experiences like? Do you miss what we considered home or can you never look back.

I love the home we purchased in Franklin it was the right fit. That in addition to a wonderful wife and 2 great children our home will become "home sweet home." I don't know much about Tenn and if there is alot to do. In NY & LI there's a ton of activities. From shows, restaurants, marinas, beaches, to the mountains, skiing and biking in the summer. Its difficult to visit the same place twice unless you really like it.

I would like your insights and all of you are dealing with your relocation.

I lived in NYC metro for six years after Houston and now Dallas metro. Grew up in Oklahoma. NYC was not a big shock or change to me. Colder weather and more crowded but nothing there I like that I can't get in Houston or DFW Texas. Nashville is smaller still but has more things to do than I need. Franklin reminds me if Western NJ towns like basking ridge etc only warmer weather but same natural beauty. Big metros that are growing are very diverse so that isnt the shock feature someone might think. Nashville is dynamic and fast changing and growing in ways I like. Can't wait to hear what you find for your way of life there.

Moving helps you learn yourself more than anything if you are open to variety

How did you make out? We are thinking of doing the same from Long Island to Franklin.

Nashville is great. Taxes are low, people are friendly. Govt here let’s you make your decisions for what’s best for you or your family. I’m never going back to NY. Cuomo can keep his dystopian horror show. Franklin is nice so are many other neighborhoods. Franklin is becoming crowded bc of the transplants. Great schools great place for kids. My kids who are 7 and 6 said they don’t want to go back to Bellmore. No problem kiddos!
