Hello all

Ive been working hard in leaving CA for greener pastures. The grass here is brown and disgusting but that's a story for another day.

I might get a job in La Vergne.

I'm a straight male, early 30s, salary would be 6 figures with some bonuses.

my question is: where to live? i dont want to be too far from work. 30 mins tops.

i know brentwood and franklin are nice but should i look into areas closer to downtown? what areas would you say would be good for someone like me? i like to be close to good restaurants and a good gym and/or some tennis courts

thank you!

When we moved here in our 20s, my husband worked in LaVergne, and I worked all around the city. So we bought a townhouse in Green Hills right by 440. It was a great place to live as young couple, and his commute to work was easy since it was a reverse commute. Our neighbors were mostly young professionals.

We are also moving from SoCal with 6 figure incomes. We bought in East Nashville in the Lockeland Springs area. Seems very walkable with a great vibe. I can’t wait to get out of LA.

Anything East Nashville, SoBro, Donelson,Hermitage to La Vergne takes you a reverse commute with a lot easier traffic. Check out TopGolf for fun. Maybe for good gym try YMCA maybe they have tennis too. In your apartment or condo complex check out if they have a pool, exercise area, tennis court etc.

I would also add the 8th Avenue corridor, the Gulch and Capitol View as potential areas to look at.

As for gyms, I found the YMCA to be not my cup of tea. Luckily there are many great gyms here depending where you live. I go to Centennial Sportsplex, where I pay $325 for the entire year (yes, you’re reading that correctly). That includes a great gym with an indoor running track and lots of cardio plus full weight racks and machines (good enough for one of the Nashville Predators to work out there this summer). There is also a 50 m X 25 yard indoor pool. They also have tennis courts and they have a very big tennis league, I understand.

QNTM Fit Life in the Gulch is great as is Gym 5 in East Nashville. And there are others - it would just depend what part of town you end up in. What is huge here are boutique fitness places and there are a lot of really good ones.

But I would definitely suggest living within the urban core versus LaVergne.

Why not rent? Isn't buying a scam? Then to you won't have to take care of a lawn?
