I am looking for a total generalization, I know.

But do people who live outside of Nashville, say in Franklin, go to the Nashville downtown much? Like for restaurants, shows, other recreation....?

I've lived in cities where the answer is a definite yes, and others where the answer is an almost uniform No because it's too much of a nuisance with parking, crime, tourists etc., and there's plenty to do in your burb or satellite town.

I used to go downtown regularly, not anymore. It is such an event to go downtown, everything has to be planned out. The answer is no, and there is nothing to do in my suburban area either.

We go downtown pretty often. Most of the big ticket events are downtown- Preds, Titans, TPAC (theater), concerts, symphony, etc. I would say some combination of our family of 5 are downtown 2-3 times a month, generally for an event. But just to “hang out” (eat, visit bars, etc), my husband and I will go out downtown maybe 1-2 a year at most.

I go downtown 4-5 times a year. I used to more often but traffic is a total cluster down there.

I go downtown somewhat often due to close proximity. I don't go down Broadway much at all, but there are things downtown I like to do. However, I spend most of my time in the adjacent neighborhoods where you have the nightlife without the hassle.

I used to go into downtown Nashville from Franklin for concerts and to visit the Frist museum. Maybe once a month? Then the construction started and the affordable surface parking lots closed and traffic got worse and now I don’t ever go. The effort and expense was no longer worth the enjoyment I got. Biggest turn off is the inconvenience of finding a parking place that felt safe and the cost. I don’t use Uber or Lyft. Oh, and those drunk bachelorette parties! Big turn off.

There are more than enough great restaurants in the Franklin/Cool Springs area and the lovely Franklin Theater has some great musical guests. Good question!

Better off going to Midtown or East Nashville and avoiding the giant tourist trap of a downtown. I went to Broaway one time, which probably also be my last time. I was overwhelmed by the huge swaths of tourists and the whole place felt geared towards them and not locals. It may be fun to visit as a tourist or go for local oriented events such as a sports game or concert, but not for social activities or nightlife. It sucks, because most cities I have lived the downtown is geared towards locals and not a big tourist trap. But, i guess that's why they call it Nash Vegas.

Yes, regularly.

But I am also an urban development enthusiast, so I'm regularly checking up on the status of projects.

I also attend events and games when I can.

I tend to avoid it during the busy times, though, because it can be quite a mess...especially anywhere near Broadway. I think they need to curb the number of party vehicles that cruise downtown.

I agree with somewhereoutthere in regards to spending time in the adjacent neighborhoods. Most locals aren't going to be found at the Broadway bars. There are much better places to visit in the periphery...with a lot less fuss.
