Based on what the doctors at the local press conference said, the smart thing this guy did was to call his doctor's office rather than go in and potentially infect others.

He called them and described his symptoms and travel history, and they advised him to go to Williamson Medical Center to give a sample for testing. Doc's office called the epidemiology dept. at WMC, and they met him outside the hospital, basically in the parking lot , to collect the sample in an effort to minimize contact inside the building. (The epidemiology docs at WMC are top notch, BTW.)

They then sent the sample to the state lab, and the patient went back home to self-quarantine.

I agree that there are probably more undiagnosed cases, since it's flu AND allergy season too and many of the symptoms are so similar.

I'm in WA State and it's pretty scary! Who would think that Costco would run out of toilet paper.

Edited to add: Confirmed case in Davidson.

EVERYBODY PANIC!

RAID GROCERY STORES!

TAKE YOUR SAVINGS OUT OF THE BANK AND STUFF IT IN YOUR MATTRESS!

SELL ALL OF YOUR STOCKS!

STOCK UP ON GUNS AND AMMO!

HOARD WATER!

THE END IS NEAR!

But seriously, don't do any of that. You morons that are buying 10 cases of hand sanitizer, 100 rolls of toilet paper, and a shopping cart full of bottled water are actually more dangerous than the virus itself.

And someone in the AT&T building has it and they have closed the building. We are now working for three days at least remote.

I just went to my local small Publix in Franklin. NO TOILET PAPER at all and the Kleenex (any brand of tissues) is also nearly gone. No russet potatoes. No butter. Big run on frozen veggies. Rice aisle is half empty as are the bar soap shelves. Beans and soup seem to be a favorite. No one is going to starve but you may not get what you want at the store. Try some new recipes!

I went to the grocery store yesterday to restock my refrigerator and freezer from the tornado and not having power for a week. Lots of shelves were getting bare and it was pretty busy. The store manager said lines had been 20 people deep for awhile earlier and he thought it was 50/50 on people like me (tornado) versus preppers.

Anybody been to Costco lately? A friend in CA says there are huge lines to get in. The Publix by me is doing a great job although yes, lots of empty shelves. I did get milk this morning but the bread aisle had that "snowstorm coming" anemic look. Has anyone been able to work at home? Are you going out to restaurants? I would like to support local businesses but will probably do take out. The Frist is closed, and the museum at Cheekwood.

At least gas is really cheap!
