If you can find something you enjoy in Franklin, it has a lovely downtown with cute shops, restaurants, coffee shops and plenty of charm. Franklin (and all of Williamson County) is expensive. It is also not too far (relative to your own personal traffic experience and tolerance, of course) from Nashville.

From what I have seen of Mt. Juliet, it is more affordable than Franklin but also more of a suburban feel, rather than having a busy historic downtown area. Popular amongst people relocating to the greater Nashville area because of its relative affordability and decent public schools.
