Maybe that was too deep...for most, I think it's fear of the unfamiliar, not necessary predjudice...

Choose wisely. Nashville may have a liberal following, but the state is very hardcore conservative and the 2 do not mix. Southerners are friendly to a point. Granted there are a ton of outsiders moving to Nashville, but many are also conservatives moving from more liberal states because they know there is a massive conservative core in TN. The college areas and East Nashville are a given for liberal enclaves...but TN is very red for a reason.

Is Nashville "laid back"? Generally yes

Is Nashville "liberal"? As we've seen with the "liberal" rioters in Berkeley, California, they're not that sort of "liberal". Of course, you'll find the occasional moon-bat leftist "liberal" even in Nashville, as the music industry is huge. But overall, the political leaders span a tight slice of the spectrum from center-left to center-right. But generally, Nashvillians (native and transplants) have adopted a live-and-let-live attitude. It's a really easy place to feel accepted. Don't be mistaken however, Davidson County is yellow-dog Democrat. As long as a candidate has the "D" beside his/her name, they tend to keep electing the least effective representatives to the US Congress, ever since Reconstruction interrupted their pattern with a handful of Republicans. In the grand scheme of things, Nashville is deeply rooted in Southern Democrat politics.

No.

State law prohibits it.
