Hello,

I am in the Hermitage area and I am looking for an electrician. I need more light in my back yard because the porch light is not bright enough and I have a hard time seeing the dog. any suggestions?

Have you considered low voltage lighting? 12 volt lighting produces the same light with a 3rd the energy consumption.

well, my husband wont attempt to do anything with the lights. our yard is pretty big and split in half by a chain link fence and the deck. we have a few solar lights, but they do not put out much light and are not high enough. we are thinking about 2 lights, maybe flood lights or the smaller street lamps. but those would involve digging and im not sure we want to deal with that.

We put a Mercury Vapor light in our backyard. It lights up most of the yard, without a blinding light. Ours is mounted off of the side of our garage.

I think they are more economical than flood-lights.

thanks, i had not heard of those. we arent really suposed to have a flood light, i guess so we wont blind the neighbors. this might be an option.
did you install it yourself?

Before you decide to install Mercury Vapor lighting go see one in action. They produce a yellow orange light that I would not want in my back yard. Look around on the internet for ideas and styles of what you like. I would consider installing a low voltage lighting system. If not floods do work great. If you do install flood lights and are worried about the neighbor complaining I would make sure they are controlled by a switch that way you can turn them off easily. Motion sensor flood lights are great but depending on what’s around them they will come on every time when the wind blows and a tree branch sways.
