Akron won.

I'm disappointed.

You have a very pretty area and I just can't see why they wanted to stay up here and not go down there. But I'm not in charge.

Thanks for the hospitality.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm sure it had to do with money. Don't be a stranger!

I cannot imagine how much money Ohio had to give Firestone/Bridgestone to keep them in Akron. It had to be a fortune. While I would've liked to see those 600 high-paying jobs come to Murfreesboro, on the other hand I don't want the state to get into a ridiculous bidding war that will bust the state budget (remember the state is already having to lay off 2,000+ state employees).

I'm so, so disappointed. DH said some time ago that the Ohio/Akron package included Ohio taking ownership and responsibility of the cleanup of the current tech center site. Since it is a former tire factory, there are tons of environmental hazards that must be dealt with and it is very costly to do so. That in itself was a huge incentive to stay in Akron.

My guess is that the Tennessee PTB was focusing more on luring the VW plant to Chattanooga and allocating more resources there. I'm sure to people outside M'boro, the tech center was a minor deal as opposed to a huge automobile plant and the residual business that it will bring to the area.

It sucks and I guess barring a job change DH is stuck driving downtown to corporate every day. It would have been nice to have him working just 10 minutes down the road!

I just pray the Bible Park people don't try to weasel back in!

Bite your tongue Mary. Don't even mention Bible Park. It wouldn't shock me though.

Ha, Mary really knows how to push Steve's buttons!

Sorry that we lost out to Akron but am not surprised.
