Good Morning and YES it was cold here last night -2 to be exact.

I am looking at wanting to buy a woodstove this summer. Because the prices right now are probably expensive and I can wait if I have to. My house 100% electric and if the power goes out we will freeze.

I don't want a real big one just something that will take at least a 16 inch log. I am going to want it installed. Does anyone know if a local dealer that I can go to for some information. I live real close to the Kentucky border so I could go into Ky if need be.

Thanks Lee..

Lee, I found this wood stove from a distributor right in Portland, TN.

Morsø 1011 Highway 52 West, Portland, TN 37148, www.morsousa.com

Here's the stove: http://www.morsoe.com/NR/rdonlyres/AD301E53-571E-4919-B07F-00A64FEDB6F5/0/7110NA.pdf (broken link)

Well Duh Lee.... Barb I have driven by that place a 100 times and looked at the sign and wondered. Hmmmmm geeeeee I wonder what that place is. I knew exactly where it was when you posted the address. So we jumped in the truck and went over there. There was about 4 or 5 trucks in the parking lot but the doors were locked. I could see in the windows and I saw a showroom with Woodstoves and fireplaces. I figured they must be having a Christmas party or something so I will go back there again after Christmas.

There is a place up on 31w (just So. of FlyingJ) that has stoves and I stopped there and they had quite a few that will meet our needs. These burn either wood (18inch was the max length which is great) or coal. They were telling me about this type of coal that burns real clean and is very efficient called Anthracite. I am going to look into it more....

Thanks for the links...

Lee, one important thing I read on the internet is to contact your insurance company to make sure of the requirements for installation so your homeowners insurance is not effected.

Thanks Barb I hadn't thought about that.... I did some looking and found a couple that will work for us. I need to find someone to install one. (if I don't have the store install it) We may wait until Spring/Summer and see if we can get a better price.

Barb, you a very right on the insurance aspect. I had a brother in law in West Virginia buy a house and he installed a wood burning stove. His insurance company would not insure his house after the stove was installed. It could be because he installed it himself, and was not professionally installed.

Hi Lee, I recommend Lehman's, they specialize in selling to the Amish and their catalogues are great to read. Here's a link to their website for stoves, but they have tons of stuff for comfortable country living.

Lehman's - Products for Simple, Self-sufficient Living (http://www.lehmans.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=737&i1Cat=671&i2 Cat=737&i3Cat=0&i4Cat=0 - broken link)

It is my understanding that no insurance company will insure a home that has a wood stove installed regardless of who installed the unit. Call your carrier before you proceed.
