I have a meeting for a school project at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office this weekend. It is located at 506 Second Avenue North. I am coming from outside of Nashville, and I will be bringing my wife and nine-month-old son along with. I was wondering if anyone could give us some ideas of what they can do for about an hour and a half to two hours while I am in my meeting. For example, is there any places to look around some shops (maybe a mall) in that area? Also, what is something we could do afterwards (possibly some where to go and eat). As far as places to eat, we would prefer something cheap (under about $10-15/person). Any ideas and help is appreciated. As a disclaimer, my wife and I have only been to Nashville twice and both times they were to specific places, so we aren't very familiar with the area.

If she's wanting to go shopping I'd send her out to Green Hills. I am a HUGE fan of the Hill Center & could spend 2 hours easily between Anthropologie, Swoozies & Whole Foods.

As far as somewhere to eat Downtown that is kid & budget friendly I would say The Old Spaghetti Factory would be a good place, here is their website: The Old Spaghetti Factory : Welcome

Since it's suppose to be relatively nice this weekend (highs in the mid-60's), she might enjoy just strolling around the Second Avenue/Lower Broadway area for an hour or so. Maybe eating somewhere around there after your meeting (check the menu prices first however; some of the places are overpriced). There's are also a few fast-food places downtown.

The Tennessee State Museum is not too far away. It's not a great museum but it might be worth a visit if she's never been.

By the way, if you're not aware, the Second Avenue N. location you're going to is not exactly the same as the Second Avenue N./Lower Broadway area. The street is actually "cut", so it's not continuous from one end to the other; you sort of have to loop around the Davidson County Courthouse.

Shopping with a 9-month old. Oh dear.

The Frist Center for the Arts, Country Music Hall of Fame... as alley said, a nice stroll sounds like a good choice.

I should have asked, what direction are you coming from, and at what time? We might be able to suggest someplace you can drop her off on the way, then go back and pick her up and get something to eat.

In that case, I'd probably stick with my original recommendations, unless you have time to spare to take her somewhere away from downtown.

There's not a mall type place downtown, but there are a few places on Second she might enjoy browsing; and you know women, they can spend an hour shopping in some funky store even if they don't intend to buy a thing (I will deny ever saying that if asked).

It's kind of like fishing. You can spend all day on the lake, not catch a thing, and still say you've been fishing

(I shop. I fish.)

Tell her to check out French's shoes (on 2nd) (downstairs). Keep your trunk clear.
