Hello all,
I have posted on here a few times and I have come to you guys with many questions about your beautiful city.Well I'm baaaaccckkkk and I have to pick you guys minds on this.My wife were just there this past weekend looking at places to live and where I can find the local comic book places and I realized I have to find a place for me to do karate. My question is;does anyone know if Isshinryu karate is taught in Nashville or even Murfressboro?Isshinryu is an Okinawan form of Karate and it is a very different form of Karate and I just started it here in Indy and want and hope to continue it in Nashville.Any and all help with this would be appreciated.

My daughter took Isshinryu Karate in Fl for 2 years. When we moved to Smyrna(about 20 miles south of Nashville & just north of Murfreesboro) we looked for an Isshinryu dojo also. I searched the internet and found an Isshinryu hall of fame website. I e-mailed someone on there and they told me about their Dojo, right here in Smyrna at a Baptist church (you dont have to be a member to join) and my daughter has been attending for almost a year now and she enjoys it. It's not much different than what she was used to. They learn some of their Katas in a different order and their belts go-White, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, & black. My daughter was one away from a brown belt and has had to start over again. She is now only on her 3rd belt. In Fl, she took 2 hours of class a week and here it's only 1 hour. But the best part is that the classes used to be of no charge. They are now only $15 a person or $30 a family for the entire year. You can't beat that. Uniforms are black and cost $15 or $20 and we were not charged for her new belts. They don't test to move up, they are moved up based on their abilities and attendance. There is a tornament coming up soon and anyone is invited to enter. It will be in Athens and they often have Saturday classes you can attend for extra practicing. Here is their website FBC Smyrna Dojo.com New people of all ages are joining all the time. You should check it out. I think there is also a dojo in Nashville and one in Lebanon, but I don't know about them, you can talk to the people where we attend and they might be able to help you find one closer to Nashville. But it wont be $15 a year.
I hope I helped, let me know if you checked it out and what you think or if you have any more questions.
Dawn
