I currently live in LA and am a certified personal trainer with a great resume. I am looking to relocate in September and would love info on the nice and busiest gyms in and near Nashville where people frequent use with trainers.

Any info is great! Thank you so much and stay healthy!

For a city like Nashville where there is quite a lot of personal wealth floating around, I would say there really aren't many gyms I would consider upscale or trendy here...I mean I saw Vince Gill (recording artist who I would assume has a boatload of money) at the YMCA in the nicest part of town using a personal trainer but you would think if there were a nicer gym he would be there. ??? Maybe Westside, but there is talk the Y is buying them out.

Someone at work told me the CEO of my company (who I would estimate is worth 100s of millions of dollars) works out at Williamson County Rec Center which is not what I would consider trendy, ha. The YMCAs are pretty decent down here though, so maybe that's why there aren't many high dollar facilities but when I lived in Atlanta there were WAY nicer places to workout there.

Franklin Athletic Club is really nice. I wouldn't call it trendy necessarily. (But, I don't worry about such things so what do I know?) Anyway...there are a lot of people at FAC that use trainers. Also in Franklin is the Prairie Life Fitness Something or Other. It's got a stupid name, but other than that...it's a pretty cool place. Just expensive.

The only gym I've been to in the LA area was Fanatics in Anaheim and my gym, FAC, is nicer and more fun than that one.

Just saw an ad for Urban Active who is looking for trainers. The problem there and probably most gyms is that unless you are busy all the time, you barely make minimum wage. I know Urban Active pays the trainer $9 per 1/2 hour session and they charge the customer $30. If you do two sessions back to back, you make $18/hour. If you are only doing two session per day then you are making $2.25/hour for an 8 hour day. I see some of the trainers schedules and 2, 3, 4 session per day is quite common.

You might do better off advertising in-home personal training in the more affluent areas. The trainer I had is starting to do that and is doing pretty well with it.

I don't think the trainers at FAC are employees of the gym....if that makes any sense. Maybe they have some kind of arrangement with the gym? I know there are ads up for the trainers and they have their own business names and whatnot.

Much better for the trainers. In that case, the OP might want to stay away from Urban Active...unless he's desperate for a job. I think they have a pretty high turnover rate.
