I want to bring a hostess gift to a friend who lives on Lake Norman in NC (i.e. they've already got the BBQ stuff). Everything I can think of is not diabetic friendly and that is a concern.

I don't like to bring decor related stuff to people because if they hate it, they often feel obligated to display it.

What's a Nashville themed gift, not overly extravagant, that won't clog their arteries or put them into a diabetic coma?

This isn't Nashville themed but Tennessee Chow Chow is good. It's a versatile topping that can be used for different things.

I like your gift giving theme, I hate it when I get stuff that I don't want. Something that you can eat, drink or use up is a good way to go.

Thanks for the tip. I've never seen that nor heard of it. Is it available anywhere in particular?

Take a Tennessee Titan shirt or jersey, those Panther fans will love it! You could always do a cookbook from Lovelace Cafe. If it were fall, Rice's country ham in Mt. Juliet would be the place to go for a gift. Jack Daniels is one of those "Tennessee" products, but a lot of diabetics do not drink. You could always do NEW BBQ stuff, they do it all wrong in NC (I'm from the area).

Enjoy Lake Norman, we were there back at the beginning of May for a trip home!

Tunky, it's usually available at the farmers market in Nashville, it may be in your local grocery somewhere but I'm not sure. It's pretty good, I like it topped on white beans, it's a relish that you can use in pretty much anything.
