Hi,

My husband and I are coming down to TN to look for a home. We have zeroed in on two specific homes. One in Willoughby and the other in The Park at Mt. Vernon.

Since you guys already live there, can you please specify pros and cons of each neighborhood or general area? I was told that Willoughby becomes a bottle neck with traffic and The Park can be close to the railroad.... anything else?

Willoughby Station, and The Park at Mt. Vernon are essentially right across S Greenhill Rd from each other. They are both about the same distance from the tracks, although parts of Willoughby can be farther. But, the difference is largely negligible. Mt Juliet is a quiet zone, meaning that unless something or someone is obstructing the tracks at a crossing, the horn will not sound. That coupled (no pun intended) with the fact that N&E trackage is sparsely traveled with the exception of the Star, means that you won't have much of an issue with the tracks being close by.

Leaving either of the neighborhoods during rush hour will probably result in some bottlenecks on S Greenhill, and Division St. Willoughby does have the advantage of two ways in and out, S Greenhill, and Lebanon Rd via Devonshire. But that probably won't save you any time either.

So, really they will both end up being about the same.

Be sure to understand that the Mt. Vernon homes I believe are not zoned for Mt. Juliet Elementary so you will have a further drive to school. And about the park- it is not near the tracks it is by the pools.
