Yes, thanks!
My husbands grandparents have a huge garden in Manchester, so they've been giving us tips too. They let me know about that.

Just moved here a few months ago so this was our first garden season in TN. I found if the soil has a lot of clay in it, add lime, it breaks the clay up into big granuels and lets the water and air circulate to the roots of the plant. About those cantelopes! We just planted 3 plants and have had so many we have given them to all the neighbors and still had many for us. We put a small, 2' fence around garden to keep my dogs out and it has worked to keep out all the other varmints also. I know most could climb over or dig under if they had a mind to but so far have not.

Thumbs up raised bed are great

Be sure to mulch well between your beds to have clean weed free walk ways. By the way does anyone know how early I can plant my potatoes i'm live north of Nashville in Springfield.

I tried a garden last year, and it failed miserably. The plants grew, but they did not produce. It was awful.

I was thinking of doing a raised bed garden myself this year. Hopefully, it will do much better than last year.

Great information, alleycat! thanks to sam baker for asking, too! I definitely want some kind of a garden when we move back. I can't wait! Wish we were back there now to start!

for many years my husband has planted a vegetable garden, and the best tip I can give you is to mulch with your grass clippings. Since he started doing that, we have been overloaded with the size and amount of our crop.
