I too am looking to relocate to Nashville in about 18 months, and will be visiting to house hunt. Since it is just me, I am looking for a hotel that is cheap but clean, and in an area that is reasonably safe. It need not be the best area, just an OK area is good enough. I found the Sleep Inn on Dickerson Pike on TripAdvisor.com. It is very inexpensive, and got good reviews. Nobody rated it unfavorably. Anyone ever stay there? What is the area like? Thanks for your advice.

Very convenient to I-65 and Briley Parkway. I'm sure it might get some bad rep because it's on Dickerson Rd. bit it's nearly out of that range. If you use it as a base and not go exploring the immediate area too deeply, you'll be fine there. Most locals might shy away from it, but it really does look clean and convenient.

IngleDave is right.

I work across the street at a large teleproduction facility. Some of our out of town execs will stay there and have had no complaints. There are several fast food places around the area as well.

I go down Dickerson Pike everyday in East Nashville and I can say it's no where near as bad as it was many years ago.It might not be there yet but it has changed so much and has some nice new stores now considering it on the gentrification path I guess. It still has a long way to go but in the future it will keep getting better but anyway the Sleep Inn could be just fine.
