I've lived in 4 major cities in the world, and like akm, SF is one of those cities. SF continues to be my favorite, but Nashville is a close second and could be #1 if I only got to be here more! (Business travel takes me away a lot) We love Nashville and Franklin...my 10 reasons will apply to both.

The energy that is felt throughout the area. Such creativity of all kinds, it's an inspiration! All kinds of music available all the time.

Clean city without a creepy feel. And if you don't believe that...go live in some other cities!

Friendliness all around! One day when I first moved here, I had 6 errands to run. In 5 of those places, people spoke to me and had an actual conversation. It was refreshing.

David Foster and The Gathering! YAHOO!!

MeetUp.com's Euchre group, thank goodness we found you!

The Natchez Trace and all the other local beauty.

The Ryman. What an incredible venue!

Southwest Airlines and BNA! ( I flew 40 weeks in 2009...SWA and BNA rocks!)

Franklin's Farmer's Market and Downtown.

Oh how I miss Nashville. We moved there in the mid-80's, and I still remember how I felt coming down the esclator at the airport and seeing the words, "Welcome to Music City".

After church it was a ritual to go to Shoney's for the breakfast buffet.
I loved the rolling hills, the country music stars ---they would come to the kid's school sometimes. I may have a chance to go back for a visit in April.

Nashville really does have good heatlhcare services for a city its size... it's in the major leagues when it comes to healthcare.

Oh, and yes, (thanks AKM)... I love the Preds. I'm a relatively new fan.

Default Speaking of hospitals

There are great ones here in Nashville and one in Hendersonville as well. My brother was there with pneumonia and received excellent care.

My top 10 list, though the numbers are not necessarily ratings

1. Rich history in area (I'll be licensed to teach History)
2. Closeness of many activities for families
3. Great healthcare in area (discovered this when my fiance had a heart attack two months ago)
4. Kindness of people - genuine kindness, people ask how you are doing and really want to know!
5. I love that Murfreesboro feels like the suburbs I came from in NY
6. Sonic
7. TN Titans - and getting to LP Field via the Music City Queen Tailgate Cruise
8. Nashville Sounds - love seeing baseball and not having to take out a loan to afford it.
9. Inexpensive home prices - I would never have been able to afford the home we bought last year if I were still in NY.
10. BNA - I love that I can get back to NY easily, usually in about 4-5 hours with a quick layover in Baltimore.

BTW, I also agree that Southwest rocks. I recently flew with my two kids, who are both allergic to peanuts, and they were fantastic to deal with.
