Since I am currently unemployed, I am looking in various cities for positions. I wanted to know if anyone had any words about working in the Nashville area as an african-american? I heard that it is growing for opportunities, but any input would be great.

Thanks!

Depends on what you do. If you are good at your job and excel beyond all the other applicants, your experience should be no different than a person of any other race. If you're looking for an affirmative action thing just because your black, I can't comment.

You definitely don't get it. I am definitely good and excel in what I do. I am looking from experiences from minorities and their experiences living and working in Nashville.

Does being a northerner count? Anyway, there is a fair amount of competition when it comes to "white collar" jobs. And "blue collar" even more. I know of a few minorities that are struggling in low paying jobs after being laid off from more lucrative positions. It really has nothing to with race/sex/creed bit more with what you can bring to the table!

To add a little more, unless you are certain you'll have a job here, I wouldn't recommend moving until you do. Took me 6 months to find gainful employment and like you I am good and excel at what I do.
