Hey folks! I've been admitted to the LLM (Masters in Law) program at Vanderbilt for this coming academic year.

I'm a 21-year old male from the UK and just looking for some advice, info etc on Nashville. I'd be most grateful for your suggestions on places to go and where to eat etc!

If you're at Vandy it would be great to hear from you too

Many thanks

There are tons of great places to eat and drink around the Vanderbilt area. The Hillsboro Village area up the road on 21st Ave is a great place to meet people, eat and study.

Best wishes on your law degree!

Welcome to Nashville! It will be very different from the UK. Where abouts are you coming from? Get as much fish n chips and curry as you can before you head this way... it's just not the same in Nashville.

Haha. Taco Bell is perfect for 2am hunger pains! Places I love in downtown Nashville:

Cafe Coco (www.cafecoco.com) - A lot of Vandy students go here. I'm not a student, but it's definitely my go to place for a cup of coffee and good talks with friends. They've got a bar around the back and I believe have live music on the weekends.

Provence (in Hillsboro Village) is a great bakery. If you love sweets or good cheese and bread, fantastic place.

Aladdin's is near Cafe Coco, and it's a hookah joint. Belly Dancer on Friday's and Saturday's I think.

Exit/In is a small venue (also near Cafe Coco) where a lot of local bands play. I'm not big on live music, but I have friends who go all the time.

If you're in to parks, Centennial is right smack dab in the middle of all that, and Percy/Warner is a nice big park just south west - between I-40 and I-60.

I know there are a ton of places I don't even know about! You're going to have a lot of fun exploring.
