Are there any full time music teaching positions in Tennessee? My girlfriend is a 24 year old non tenure teacher from Michigan and I'm a 28 year old with a business admin degree, and we are considering a move to Tennessee, if she can find a music teaching position first.

I moved from MI last year for an elementary teaching job. I would suggest checking all of the county websites that she is interested in..or that you would want to live in. It can be quite an extensive application process, they usually require a lot of documents to be sent in including 3 recommendation forms filled out from people you know, which could take some time to get out and get sent back in. Most schools always asked if I had a TN teaching license yet, so I applied for that just to show that I was serious about the move. Otherwise they would just go with someone they knew was already in the area. Most schools start here at the beginning of August, so if she wants a job, she needs to be looking right now. Most schools interview in May/early June is what I found out last year unless they have openings throughout the summer. I know the schools had to post their openings by April 15. You apply to the county that you want to teach in and usually email the principal of the school you want to teach at, which is different from MI where they have smaller districts within each county. I can try to help if you have any other questions not relating to music since I just came from MI last year for teaching. Good luck!

Im connected to the Montgomery County school system and I know for sure there is an Elementary position as well as an Instrumental music position at the High school level that are both still posted.

Their website is: www.cmcss.net

I know Cheatham county has a buncha new job postings as of last week, not sure on music though.
