Hello everyone,
My Husband and I have been planing a road trip for a few years now.
We will me going to Nashville May 17th - 19th. We are very worried about the flooding that is happening right now. It is so devastating. We have been monitoring it through the news, but we are not sure if it is as bad as it looks. We will be staying downtown. Can anyone tell me how bad it is at the moment, and if you think it is safe to travel through their. Our hotel is booked already, and I am not sure if we should cancel or not.

More importantly, can you even drive anywhere..?

Thanks!

If it's any consolation, I drive to work (as I have since Monday) on I-24 where many cars were stranded and the school building floated down the street. There are still some roads closed, but I'm sure that by this weekend, most, if not all, will be open to normal traffic. I would recommend calling your hotel and ask if they've been impacted by the flood. If not, you need not change your plans. Restaurants and businesses will be open and travel should be very close to normal. I wouldn't overly worry. Come, and have a good time. It's a tough thing folks are going through, but normalcy can certainly be had for most.

You definitely should call your hotel next week to check its status, though, especially if it is downtown. Things hopefully will be better by the time you visit, but it is as bad or worse than it looks. Most of the major tourist attractions are flooded right now.

We just drove through downtown to see what it was like because of the power outage. Well it seemed the power was back, bars were open, and people were walking the streets. Not much can stop these people. I'd assume by then things will be back to as normal as they can be for what just happened. But if hotels and bars were open today, I'd assume they will by then also, but of course call to confirm. Enjoy, its a fun place

Yeah, it is as bad as it looks, and actually is worse, parts I've seen, in person. As far as the roads being open, I'm sure many will be, however many where washed out as well, so Idk. I do know, most of downtown, where many of the torist attractions are were flooded pretty bad, as well as the Opryland area, Opry Millls mall has been in water for 2 days, so I don't know how soon it will take to recover. I do know they are saying the Opryland Hotel will be closed for 6mths up to a year, so I don't know. Just call your hotel to see how things are before you make your plans.

The news just said no electricity in Downtown, at least 1st 2nd and 3rd ave area, so IDK.

I think some things may be closed, but the Majority open. I know the Ryman is hosting the Weekend Grand Old Opry so that was untouched. I also know the Antioch HS has a prom in May at the Sheraton. It was rescheduled to May. Where I live in Nashville, you can't even tell there was a flood.

Yes I know it said that, that is why we drove down there to see and places were open. Bridgestone Arena was open today, employees had to go work. Maybe the power was restored to a few places, but not the lower half.
