Hi all,
I have a friend who is interested in teaching in Tennessee (Nashville area). Is there a website where teaching positions are posted? She would be teaching anything K-12.
Thanks!

I don't know of an aggregator. You would have to look at each system's website:

Metro Nashville Home

Williamson County WCS Careers (http://www.wcs.edu/careers/index.htm - broken link)

Rutherford County RCS Human Resources (http://www.rcs.k12.tn.us/rc/RCS_NEW/hr_main.htm - broken link)

Murfreesboro City Human Resources (http://www.cityschools.net/human_resources.html - broken link)

Sumner County Sumner County Schools - Job Opportunities (http://www.sumnerschools.org/content/view/142/231/ - broken link)

Franklin Special School District Franklin Special School District - Jobs and Applications

These are the most populated areas.

Agreed. The only luck I had while finding a job was to find the county I wanted to be in and apply through their website. Then once you apply, you usually have to email the principal at the school you want to teach at, and hope they reply to you. Don't forget to apply for a teaching license right away in TN if she's not from here. They want to know you have that and are serious about being here before they offer you a position.

What is the job market like for teachers in TN? Teachers are being laid off left and right in California and there are no positions available.

I had a friend get hired at a Nashville elementary school this month. She had a lot of experience and previously worked at a local private school, but she applied at a lot of places.

Williamson County is opening three new schools this fall, so surely they are hiring. They are Pearre Creek and Allendale Elementary and Spring Station Middle. Some schools don't know until the school year starts how many kids they will actually have, so some may even hire after the year starts.

Your first step should be to get certified in Tennessee though. You need to look at it like getting prequalified for a mortgage. If you are ready to go, they are more likely to hire you.

Teaching Opportunities are great in Sumner County and most of the rest of the Nashville area. Due to high growth, counties are always building new schools and hiring more staff.
