The fiancée saw these guys at the edge of a field today (they are outside the fence), there were 8 or 9 altogether.

The downies are crazy for my peanut feeder. So are the red-bellied woodpeckers.

Yesterday morning there was a bird standing on one of the fountain ponds that isn't working.
I couldn't tell what type of bird it was, so after 2-3 hours I used my binoculars and saw that
it was a double-crested cormorant. Odd thing about it was he was on that for over 10 hours.

Maybe he was waiting for the bus?? It does seem odd for a bird to stand in one place for so long. I wonder if he was ill.

He came back at noon today and he's back just standing there again.

We had dozens of honey bees on a particular flower in our back yard yesterday. I noticed they are all over the Elaeagnus shrubs in the neighborhood too. I didn't notice many during the summer, but they are quite active now. I suppose they are stocking-up for winter.

These 3 dapper gents arrived last week. Love watching them dive. Plus the cormorant
is still here.

Interesting. I have noticed a lot more honey bees here in southwestern NJ, too. Although they do seem to move more slowly in the chilly weather.
