The other day I was taking a walk and my fox friend was sitting on the sidewalk down the street watching me. Just sitting there observing.

Saw a five-lined skink with a spectacular blue tail... must be a female. I saw a male about 5 inches long skittering about my back yard.I think they are eating up all of the crickets and spiders in my back yard, because I haven't seen many of them this summer.

Camera caught a pretty big spider climbing on a tree at night. Shudders.

With the days getting shorter I am seeing more deer earlier in the evening. Two days in a row our Yorkie saw deer while we are sitting outside around 5 PM. She is in a penned in area and the deer just stare at her while she growls at them. They may be about 100' away.

Haven't seen any hummingbirds for a couple of days. I guess they all took off for migration. Although the males have been gone for some time already. I'll leave the feeders up a while longer, to feed any travelers passing through.

Here in NW Arkansas I am seeing some huge praying mantis and walking stick insects. They are about 6 to 8 inches long. I just try to move them out of the way especially when our Yorkie sees them. She is an insect killing machine.

I had several small swarms of hummers the last few weeks and the regulars are all that are here right now. The temps got down to the upper 40's a few days and they are now back up to the upper 50's for the lows and the mid 80's for the highs.
