Political Studies professor Colin Farrelly wants to see more research into remarkable examples of health – such as why some people live 100 years disease-free.

Aside from the fact that some people are disease, they are mostly talking about getting people to take a look at this kind of thing.

Along the same subject, I never get sick. I find this strange because I am not the most healthy person. I havent been to the doctors in about 10 years, never had the flu, the worst cold I get is a runny nose for about 1 day and that is rare. I eat like crap, i dont excercise, i smoke and i drink on the upper social end. I dont get cavities in my teeth. I dont know, i just find it strange. Everyone at work goes through stages. One person gets sick, 10 more get sick.

Is that the correct link to your thread title brian? as it talks about people with HIV and Hepatitis recieving Interferon and not about people free of diseases for 100 years??? Anyway i'll throw out my two cents here about both topics.

The body already makes interferon naturally and high doses of vitamin c will raise it to higher levels in the body. Possibly why people who take vitamin c regularly hardly get colds and flu.

As for people that are ''disease free'' well many centenarians seem to fit that trait when i was researching about their longevity secrets some years back and secondly Dr. Weston A Price (dentist) had done research on hunter gatherer societies around the planet during the early 1900's showing how they had perfect teeth and bone structure and few diseases when they ate their traditional diet and not consuming grains (neolithic) as part of their diet.

You are right, 6 foot 3, I'll have to find the exact article. Mostly it was talking about taking a closer look on people who never get sick.

OK, here is the link. (http://www.queensu.ca/news/articles/queens-professor-urges-health-research-focus-positive - broken link)

I think they'll have studies about this, especially DNA studies. Just guessing. See my revised link.

Its just like anything else. Your genetics adapt to prevent illness and disease. There was actually a man cured of HIV through a bone marrow transplant from a man who was immune to HIV. Here is the link, The Man Who Was Cured of HIV and What It Means for a Cure for AIDS -- New York Magazine.

You hear stories of people who live to be over 100 even though they drink and smoke, or you hear stories of people who eat healthy but die at 54. I think the number one factor towards your health is lifestyle followed closely by genetics. Wonderful little cells, aren't they?

Serious question. Do any of you think marijuana has some properties that helps out with the subject we are on? Marijuana obviously has some medical benefits to it that are still being explored.

Don't know if marijuana has longevity properties or not but i know that many people with multiple sclerosis, parkinson's and rheumatoid swear by it helping them.

One herb that i've taken for years and i swear by it's youth promoting properties is Camellia Sinensis or other wise known by it's street name ..... Green Tea .
