Though I haven't seen them for many years, they look like chestnuts to me. Am I correct?

I have a chestnut tree in my yard. We use to put those spikey balls(Whatever you call the outside shell) on the trampoline and attempt to not jump on them. Just thinking of how stupid we were because those things hurt if you step on them but it made it more entertaining lol.

Funny!! Sounds like stuff we used to do as kids!
We grew up in the 60s and we used to play hide the clothespin...
one of us would pin a clothespin to a branch in the lilac bush, and the other 2 had to find it!
Actually, now mine sounds dumber
