According to my local paper, a neighborhood in town was sufering a rash of stolen newspapers. The carrier swore up and down he had delivered every last one of them, but people were only getting their papers half the time. After some serious stakeout work, the culprits were finally identified -- two female foxes who were using the papers to line their dens. They had actually dropped and abandoned most of the papers they stole. But those were left in the middle of gardens and thickets and hedges and went unnoticed. After a few weeks, the foxes had all they needed and the paper pilfering came to an end.
