I have a photobucket account with many pictures of plants and birds I don't know, not all of them from Ohio, but if you know please tell the names, it's amazing how ignorant I am.

4P) This yellow flower can be found from S. Texas to Nevada, it's tolerant to extreme heat, cold and drought. In Iowa, agrochemicals can't kill it, it may grow taller than corn. It doesn't compete well with turf grass though, my grass killed all of them on the second year. I took this one in Texas, just south of San Antonio.

4B) I've seen this bird in Texas and Indiana.

5B) This is a Western Kansas bird I know no name of.

5P) This is a tiny flower I found somewhere in the South, it's very common over there.

6P) Texas again, The purple bush is Sage (I believe), the red & yellow flower?

7P) This is central Illinois flower

#1 plant is what we always called iron weed. They grew in our pasture fields and nothing would eat them. We always cut them before they went to seed. #3 plant is definitely milkweed. The seed pods break open and can travel for miles on a warm day with a light breeze. They're also useful to deer hunters to determine wind direction.

I would suggest that you invest in a field guide for the birds. It's amazing how you'll be able to identify lots of birds after a while. I like Peterson Field Guides--Eastern Birds would be good for Ohio...but there are plenty to choose from. Start with identifying birds in your yard or at your bird feeder and then branch out from there.
