Every year the swallows return and build their mud and stick nests. I had one client ask me if I can stop them from making a nest on top of his porch light. He gave me $20 to build something to solve his problem. I first covered the porch light with wire to keep the birds off of it, then I used plywood and scrap trim and a shelf/rod bracket to build a bird platform for them to make a nest on and it worked. So now I have started making these platforms for my clients. I put it up with a bracket with recessed screw brackets on the back, that way at the end of the season, it can be brought down and cleaned till the next season.
