It is simple to understand. He has moved them to a holding pen to load into trucks to move out the next morning. Typical for many farmers. They are mooing because they are hungry and thirsty. Like a bunch of kids not given supper and thrown into a room with other kids, they are going to complain. The cows are simply begging for food and water.

If you have ever been in a rush hour subway train that got stuck in a tunnel for an hour, you've been right there with them cows. And they are in that "train" all night, man I'd be doing a lot of mooing too.
I am sitting here cracking up thinking about what this must sound like. I can't imagine laying in bed and hearing "mooooooooooo...... moooooooooo" all night. Hilarious

I hear it often. I also hear the Coyotes howling virtually every night. In right now the geese flying overhead to the morning feeding.
I wish I didn't have to work and get some of those geese into the freezer.

In my neck of the woods they've become very difficult to hunt. It isn't enough to put out a spread, you have to know where they were yesterday, put out a spread there and hope they come back.

That's pretty much goose hunting everywhere unless you shoot them over water which maybe legal but most of us consider very unethical.

Yes, this. My husband pens our goats up in a small area the night before he is taking them to be sold. That way he doesn't have to chase them down in the morning when it's time to leave. They'll be fine overnight without food/water although I am sure they do not prefer it.
