entomology is a fascinating field. i have taken a few courses in ento and currently work in a field where i'm required to make insect identifications based on sequencing of COX genes.

i have a friend who spent years developing and researching parasitic flies that attack fire ants. the one he finally chose is a tiny wasp that lays a single egg that, when it hatches, ends up decapitating the ant

New weapon turns fire ants into headless zombies - ABC News

the part that took forever - for good reason - was assessing whether these flies would attack domestic [i.e., 'good' ants] and end up being more of a problem than a solution.

Go for it, but I am confused since you also are posting about not going to college:

You are young. Explore the work place, make money, try to save money. Take a few classes at a community college. Maybe go for biology, mor at least take a class or two in it at the college level, while you are working. Enjoy life!

Read the thread maybe? I have decided I will probably get a bachelor's degree and I posted that decision on my thread. I wasn't interested in any the the associate degree fields - all the good ones are medical related.
