I have seen a few of these in my house this season... Can anyone identify them?

They are:
  • Small: No bigger than 5mm square
  • Color: Black
  • Wings: Rounded, Black
  • Sound: Silent
  • Speed: slow to react - easy to kill when landed

Sorry, no great picture available

BTW, I have been looking over the web for "fly" pics but did not find this. How did you find it so fast?

I take care of a 35 bed drug and alcohol crisis center. Not uncommon to see them here, especially around floor drains.

If you have potted plants that are kept fairly wet they may be fungus gnats. Annoying but not harmful.
