In Atlanta, we always had a house full of ladybugs and we would carefully scoop them up to deposit outside. not so many here in N.C. but that may be because this is a newer and tighter house. Do you have ladybugs inside your house?

Once in a while I'll get a ladybug or two; it's probably been several months since I last saw one in the house. An apartment I had from 1987-90 attracted ladybugs for some reason, and it wasn't unusual for me to have 20+ in the living room on some days. They never bothered me, although when I was able to catch them I gently deposited them outdoors.

I used to get tons of them when I lived in Pa, even in the middle of winter! I guess they had eggs laid in the window sill and when the sun shined, they hatched. I loved them and would just let them be unless it was warm out. I read that they are not the native ladybugs but some invasive species. Either way, I just can't hurt anything, not even a bug.

I haven't seen a ladybug for more than two years. The only ones I've seen are like the one center top row. I didn't know ladybugs have such a variety of charm!

We get some in the attic and a few inside the house. They do that in the winter so they don't freeze. Some houses get a lot of them (and they stink in large quantities), so we're lucky there.
You're probably seeing Asian ladybirds. They're not native (obviously), breed in huge numbers, and tend to invade houses more than other species. They're also capable to inflecting a nasty bite.
I lived in WV and the DNR (I think) released tons of them to kill the Gypsy Moths. They would come in the house in droves, making it look like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. They would be so thick they'd block the sun through the windows. They sting and stink and the walls would be moving with thousands of them. We'd fill our vacuume cleaner every day with dead ones. My neighbor's wife moved because of them. I used to like them but now, they're on the same list as cockroaches. Ugh!
