Every time I see something like this I keep telling myself "But this is basically a wild animal". He surely looks tame to me. I've seen other videos of Russian Fox playing and being affectionate too.
That fox is loving the attention it's getting. It has definitely been domesticated. You would not want to do that with a fox or any canine in the wild as the outcome would be much different than what's in this video. I think sometimes people tend to forget that. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting. I didn't know one can domesticate wild foxes the same way with dogs. It looks affectionate enough but I'm not sure it will always be that way. It is certainly no pet to me.
The video has a caption under it that says that the fox was brought to the facility when it was a baby. The fox then imprinted on humans and now associates with them. That can happen when they are very young, not after they are older and have been in the wild and have been set their natural ways. Foxes are canines.
For sure a domestic raised pampered fox. The fox looks overweight, at least 15 pounds, which is heavy for a Red Fox, and likely not in very good condition. An animal like this could never survive if released back in the wild. However, it is still basically a wild animal, and instead of kissing that man, at any time it may deliver a nasty bite instead.
When Russians tamed foxes years ago for their fur trade. They bred for the tamest ones and found the results looked more and more like domestic dogs. Seriously.

It is indeed. The wild ones I saw were mostly quite lean and looked hungry. Sometimes the lucky one would be carrying a dead squirrel unlike this pampered one.

Agree, that this sweet thing was raised by that man when it was very young. Enjoyed the video.
