Animals bridges, which may also be known as ecoducts or wildlife crossings, are structures that allow animals to safely cross human-made barriers like highways. A wildlife crossing is the broadest term and can include: underpass tunnels, viaducts, overpasses and bridges, amphibian tunnels, fish ladders, culvets and green roofs.
As a former trucker who has seen too much roadkill, I have to say there should be more of them along the interstates all over this country! Including close to cities where the highways get thicker and traffic is denser, thus less likelihood of safe crossing. Plus some state highway departments put up continuous concrete dividers that go on for miles and miles, even out in rural or remote areas. A stupid thing to do without having tunnels or some such structures for the deer and other wildlife that need mobility for finding food and finding each other during mating season.
Thanks for that post. I've never seen these type of bridges. bjh - excellent reply.
These are not only protecting wild life but soften the landscape with more trees and greenery. We should have more of
these throughout the US.

I've seen the ones in Banff. They're pretty cool. They need way more of these - all over, everywhere.
I've had fantasies of winning the Powerball lottery and donating a whole bunch of money to the Missouri DOT to build wildlife bridges across I-44 through the Ozarks.
