When I was in my bed last night watching TV, I saw something weird on the wall. I quickly turned on the light and saw a gecko on the wall. I screamed and he ran behind the bed. Now I can't find him. I slept last night with all the lights on. I don't hate lizards in general. I love green anoles. But geckos.... they look gross to me and I don't like the idea of one hiding out in my apartment.
I don't have a bug problem in here, so I'm not sure what he's going to eat. It's almost bed time again and I need a decent night's sleep for work in the morning. I know. I'm being a baby. I've been watching YouTube videos, so logically I know that he's not going to kill me in my sleep or anything like that. It just gives me the willies that he's in here somewhere.
If he were a green anole, I'd probably just give him a name and be done with it. But geckos gross me out.
Anything that you can say to get me through the night will be appreciated.
Be glad he's there and you don't have cockroaches. As it is, I have felt the little C's crawl on me while I sleep. I suppose having a biology degree makes it easier to ignore them and get through the night.

Good Lord,
I found it. It's sitting motionless in the window seal. Eeeewwwww!!!!!! (Flapping hands)
At least I know where it is now. I'd open the window, but I'm afraid a wood roach will fly in here. The insects flare up quite badly at night here in Texas.
As far as things that could be worse, about a week ago a bat fell through a hole in the wall, and entered by bedroom from the closet at 2:00 am. I opened the door, and a second bat flew in. I was terrified and couldn't fall back to sleep for a couple hours.
I'm sure you know that geckos can't hurt you.
When I was growing up in Arizona our cats loved to eat them. If you have a cat or can borrow a cat, why not put it to work?
Way too much drama over a harmless lizard. If you can't stand having him in there eating the bugs that come in your home, then have someone gently catch him and put him outside. I catch them by hand or let them run on a paper plate, put a cup over that then carry outside and release. The plate and cup works for spiders and other critters, too.
Seriously, we have one living in the kitchen cupboards, and he's not hurting anything. I say hi to him when I see him. Bugs are ubiquitous here in Florida, and I figure the little guy is earning his keep here.

I'm sure he appreciates you letting him stay there. I wish I was that brave.
When I came back to the window the stinker was gone. I guess he knew that he'd been found and changed locations. I can't keep worrying about it. I'm sure he'll scare the hell out of me when I least expect it.
At a pet shop I used to work at they sold great big Cuban Anoles (google them) actually a form of gecko- for kitchen roach patrol at night. 2 or 3 Cubans on duty and no bugs. They spend the day usually behind the fridge. You have to leave the sink faucet dripping so the crew can drink water. They do not get tame. If they bite they hang on for a long time. We at the shop used to wear them biting our earlobes as a sort of advertisement.
I used to like watching those cute little guys in my place on Kauai- how can anyone be bothered by a Gecko?
