Classic American work of art, The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings would have been verboten in today's world. Marjorie would have been arrested and offered a plea bargain to take a 10 year prison sentence in the federal pen.

That is a young buck in velvet. The real problems come when they get a little older and start serious rutting even if were legal owned . Have a friend who didn't listen to wild life officer and went to pet one in November and got speared thru upper leg. Here you can get permit to raise by having land designated a wild life property.it requires quite a investment tho. The return in tax designation and cheaper taxes.

There's actually no federal violation for this - not unless the deer was taken illegally and then crossed state lines. And even in that event, the person would never see any jail time for capturing a single deer. They would have gotten a violation notice (a ticket), the amount dependent on what US Attorney's Office/district they happened to be in. Usually somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,000.

Maybe the guy didn't actually "capture" the deer. Maybe he just let the deer walk into his home....maybe the deer "adopted" him.
Maybe the person who complained (finked) should be put in jail.
The deer don't look no worse for wear to me.

The guy apparently has had them for more than a year. ..He must know what he's doing.
So are the officers arresting him for his own good?
Your friends stupidity doesn't justify harassing this man.

I was in the vet dept at an exotic wildlife park where the state, on occassion, brought confiscated wildlife. One of the saddest episodes was a nice buck someone had living in their cellar for 3 years. the hooves were the size of bananas and it was walking on its paterns...wrists.

Don't know what happened to the guy, probably a slap on the wrist. that kind of cruelty has no cooresponding equivalent sentence or fine.
