I noticed some trash had blown onto our lawn, so I picked it up and brought it inside. I tossed it into the trash and all but one piece made it in. On the one piece that didn't make it in, this long beetle (roach??) long thing immediately darted off and tried crawling into my pantry cabinet! I started whacking it to knock it down to get a better look, to which this fast thing tried crawling under the baseboard. I whacked it again good and killed it. I am admittedly quite the wuss and not a fan of bugs so I didn't get a very good look at it, but now I am worried it was a roach! I have always heard that roaches like trash so it would make sense that it was living off of the trash. Could me bringing it in have caused an issue? Could this thing have laid eggs in the 10 seconds it was in my home?! I have a rental and recently moved in... Now I'm worried that if this was a roach, could the previous tenants have had an issue
Anything I can do now? Or after the fact is it too late?
Well IF its a Roach & You brought it in then You need to do something about it, Not a LL problem. As for just wanting to know if it is a roach Why didn't you Post this in NATURE Forums. I believe there a several Bug Members on that forum.
Contact Ultrarunner he would be glad to move this thread

I agree, and just so everyone reading this knows I am clear when I say this: I never said it was a landlord problem. Would never say it was. Even if the previous tenants had a roach problem, CA laws are in the gray area as to whether or not landlords are responsible to spray for those things. I'm gonna send my hubs to grab some roach killer and spray the perimeter of the home and the spot where the roach was just to be on the safe side. I just wanted feedback as to whether or not seeing a roach on the lawn would be an indicator of a roach issue because I am clueless when it comes to this topic.
I didn't know where to post it but figured since I'm renting and since I've seen roach questions in this forum before I thought it'd be okay to post here. Based on the snarky responses, clearly I was wrong. I'll request it be moved to another forum where hopefully people will stick to the question at hand without rude snark. (Not saying YOUR response was snarky, as you're one of the few in this forum that always gives helpful answers without snark)
