The latest viral spider news is horrifying at face value: Residents of North Memphis, Tenn., were treated to an unexpectedly white Thanksgiving when a spider web at least half a mile long appeared on the grass.
If the good people here take the time to read the article, this is how arachnids reproduce.
So let them, and have no fear. They aren't out to hurt you, they are out to kill millions of insect pests we as humans hate.
Arachnophobia is such a strange phobia to have. There is ZERO reason to fear spiders. They wont kill you, theyre not out to get you, but they will kill the bugs that can harm you (ie ticks, mosquitos, cockroaches). People need to quit being giant wussies about spiders, and learn to love them, theyre our friends, believe it or not.

In theory I understand this (although there are some deadly spiders such as brown recluse & black widow). In practice, however, I am wired to be afraid of all of them.

Yup, insects "bug" me, but anything with 8 legs TERRIFIES me. It's something about the way the legs splay out in just a certain way, and the unique way the legs move when they walk. EEEEK!!
