other than prey for lots of other animals, what purpose do they serve? They just seem to bring way more bad than good - and other than prey, I don't even know of any good purposes.

If they were a major portion of your food supply, and if they disappeared you and yours would become extinct, you would see a need for them!
Nature is all connected.

The same can be said of people - what purpose do they bring to the planet? It seems they do more harm than good - fouling up the air, water and land.

At least mosquitos are part of the food chain. You can't even eat people.

soylent green! But yes, I see that they are prey/feed a lot of other animals which is a good thing. I was just wondering if there was some other purpose. Like bees are also prey, but they make honey - that kind of thing

Default Same as the evolutionary "purpose" of every other species in existence.

What is the evolutionary "purpose" of any creature?

Mosquitoes exist to make baby mosquitoes, same basic drive as everything else.
