Never throw Rice at a Wedding! Throw Bird Seed! Little off topic but I figure it worth mentioning.

Just follow the advice from the Huimane Society:

Help Birds Build Their Nests : The Humane Society of the United States

Cut the yarn into 4 to 6 inch pieces, and there will be no problems.

I was on our church's
Wedding Committee and we required bird seed instead of rice simply because there is nothing to clean up afterwards. No mess, no extra janitor, no lingering white specs in the grass or flower beds.

OH! Well, I put some little 3" yarn scraps out there around the bird feeder during the snow. They ignored them.

I just brush my dog's fur (he's really starting to shed with spring approaching, so I remove a ton every week now) and let it blow across the yard.

Dryer lint is good for nests.

When I threw the rice at a wedding, everybody got mad at me. It seems you are supposed to take it out of the bag first. Who knew?
