I wasn't sure where else to put this so I thought Nature would be the best.

Any hikers/backpackers have an opinion on this?

In my day you'd only add a stone to the cairn at the top of the mountain or hill - just an "I got here"
Then there were a few trails marked with cairns where there were no trees for blaze marks.


I guess its getting outta control.
