So excited! and when the sun hit him it was amazing. Too excited to grab a camera and I was afraid I'd spook him. Hope he doesn't get hit by a car or some idiot with a gun.

I'm very much aware of when hunting season is but that wouldn't stop some idiot trying to get this rare animal. I hope it stays safe. Already the word is out but I think most folks just want to see it and take pictures.

We've had one in our area who became a bit of a local celebrity.

They are protected in some states:

Last year in a neighborhood pond, one of a brood of spring ducklings was all white. Now that winter is over and the ice is out from the pond, the white duck is back. She splits her time between the pond and nesting in an enclosed courtyard at the local high school.

Most years, ducks hatch at least one batch of ducklings in the courtyard, and the biology teacher has to always let mama and the kids out through the school hallway because the little ones are walking long before they're able to fly out of the enclosed courtyard (surrounded by school on all sides, but no roof).

But I haven't seen a white deer yet.

We have whole herds of white deer in my area. They're in a fenced in area that's an old Army Depot. The locals are trying to protect them from development. They are really cool to see! Sadly, in the wild white one's don't normally make it very long.
